About Us

Autism Canada Foundation was inspired by a group of parents with a common objective:

To help find a cause and a cure for autism

We felt there was a lack of representation, in Canada, of all effective treatments and therapies for autism. We decided that Canada needed an organization that provided "uncensored" resources to parents and caregivers, with special emphasis on biomedical treatments.

We support treatments for ASD children that use an integrated, "multi-disciplinary" approach, combining biomedical, nutritional and behavioural treatments. Autism Canada Foundation believes in a holistic approach to treating autism and encourages all parents to seek information on the biomedical, behavioural and nutritional treatment options that are available. Parents need to partner with informed Health Care Professionals to provide the best care for their child.

We believe that Autism Spectrum Disorder is more than simply a dysfunction of the brain, but rather, a dysfunction of many systems within the body. Current research is supportive of this theory.

We want to ultimately change the way that autism is diagnosed and treated by the professional community. By promoting research and scientific dialogue that examines autism as a "medical" condition rather than just a behavioural problem, we will work towards a cure. We support research aimed at the discovery of the underlying cause of autism.

Autism Canada's aim is to shift the paradigm from living with Autism Spectrum Disorder to actively treating it.

Advice to Parents

Please question service providers that tell you there is only one "proven" treatment. Please question them if they say that children do not recover from autism. We think they are wrong. There is solid research and statistical evidence to prove this position wrong. The children who recover are real. There are children who are no longer considered "in the spectrum" in accordance with the accepted psychological definition. Some parents write books about them, other parents just celebrate privately. Please don't give up hope that your child will recover.
