Keynote address: Martha Herbert, MD, PhD

Speaker List:

Evodokia Anagnostou, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto, a Clinician Scientist at Bloorview Kids Rehab and is cross-appointed to the Division of Neurology at SickKids Hospital in Toronto.

Dennis Debbault is the leading global voice on autism training for law enforcement and emergency responders.

Wendy Edwards, MD is a Consulting Pediatrician in Chatham-Kent, Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics, University of Western Ontario and Former Chief-Resident, Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Richard Frye, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School. He also serves as the Neurology Director at the Medically-Based Autism Clinic and Director at the Laboratory for the Biological Basis of Neurodevelopmental Disorders both at the University of Texas.

Doreen Granpeeshed, PhD is the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), President of the Board of Autism Care and Treatment Today (ACT Today) and has dedicated thirty years to helping individuals with autism lead healthy, productive lives.

Martha Herbert, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, a Pediatric Neurologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a member of the MGH Center for Morphometric Analysis, and an affiliate of the Harvard-MIT-MGH Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. She is director of the TRANSCEND Research Program.

Laurette Janak is a parent-researcher and mother of a child on the autism spectrum who also has Down syndrome and leukemia. Laurette helped co-ordinate a study on metabolic biomarkers and impaired methylation capacity in children with autism published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2004.

Bonnie Kaplan, PhD is a Research Psychologist who studies mood and behavioural disorders. She is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Calgary and is also Director of the Behavioral Research Unit at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Derrick MacFabe, MD is an Assistant Professor and Director of the Kilee Patchell-Evans Autism Research Group, Departments of Psychology (Neuroscience) and Psychiatry (Division of Developmental Disabilities) at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario.

Heather McCracken is the Founder and Executive Director of the Friend 2 Friend Social Learning Society based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Lindsay Moir is a former Education Officer with the Ontario Ministry of Education and has 31 years of experience in Special Education in various Ministry roles. He has worked as a consultant for the last eleven years.
